First Blog Entry - Introduction

I am Rookie in Blogging World,

Thanks to Beasiswa Unggulan from DIKTI  so that I can learn how to share my ideas digitally via this blog.
In order to fulfill my mandatory responsibility as one of scholarship recipient, I have to report my daily or weekly activities related to my research for my thesis completion.

Actually, this first entry is considered to be late because the research was initially started few weeks ago, but I'll try to explain my research as clear as possible.

My major is Civil Engineering (ITB) and my specialty is at structural engineering. My first research is about modelling and analyzing building under an earthquake excitation. It is compiled as my Final Project in my Undergraduate Program. I think my self lucky to get an expert to be my mentor in my research. He is known as one of Building Trustee Committee in Jakarta. Recently, he is also involved in bridge collapse in Kutai Kartanegara as one of experts. His name is known as Prof. Bambang Budiono.
My Final Project was focused at analyze methods for High Rise Building under earthquake excitation. Building structure was modeled mathematically in a certain software. This model is analyzed with a new method in Indonesia namely Modal Pushover Analysis (MPA). This method is pioneered by Anil K. Chopra, a Professor in UC Berkeley. This method needs additional procedures which differentiate from existing procedure. These additional procedures include the use of governing modals (model's dynamic characteristic), response combination, and its comparison with the most "exact" analyzing method known as Non Linear Response History Analysis (NL RHA). This "exact" analyzing method is considered exact because it uses non linearity in material and elements behavior and earthquake excitation history to be the most considerable dynamic load with high statistic uncertainty.

Apparently, my next research was a development from my Final Project research, but it is focused in non linearity behavior in Wall Element. My next research will be mainly used in modelling wall behavior in building under lateral load (include earthquake forces). Until this week, my research is at preliminary design for building model with wall element as one of lateral resisting element. The design is still at elastic region.   This design will be analyzed with performance based method namely pushover analysis to find the non linear behavior performance, especially in the wall element.

I am interested to bring my model into experimental stage for my future research.

This is it for my first entry...
